Who Are We

Why We Exist

Ackee Seed is a community-driven foundation created to support Jamaica through practical, transparent, and culturally grounded initiatives. Founded in the Netherlands, our goal is to leverage networks, resources, and partnerships across Europe to support Jamaica’s rebuilding and long-term development.

Jamaica carries immense potential. Its people, culture, environment, and creativity are its heartbeat. But consistent support is needed, especially for rural communities recovering from natural disasters and long-standing infrastructural challenges.

Ackee Seed was created to fill this gap with solutions that are:

  • Human-centered

  • Community-led

  • Practical and sustainable

  • Transparent and accountable

  • Deeply connected to culture, land, and heritage

Mission

To provide reliable, community-driven support for Jamaican communities by leveraging resources in the Netherlands to strengthen resilience, expand access, and create long-term opportunities.

Vision

A Jamaica where rural communities are supported, cultural heritage is celebrated, and people have the resources they need to rebuild, thrive, and pass on a stronger foundation to future generations.

(Our Pillars)

What We Stand For

Community First

We listen before we act. Every initiative starts with understanding real needs on the ground and working with people who know their communities best.

Practical Over Performative

We don’t chase visibility, we focus on real impact. Our work is based on research, partnerships, and solutions that are feasible, not flashy.

Clear and Consistent Communication

We strive to communicate openly with partners, donors, and communities. People deserve to know how decisions are made and where funds go.

Responsible Partnerships

We collaborate only with individuals and organizations that align with our values. Our partnerships reject exploitative or hyper-capitalist approaches.

Heritage and Land Connection

Our long-term vision honors Jamaican heritage — reconnecting people to culture, sustainable living, and land stewardship.
