As interest in the Ackee Seed Foundation continues to grow, work behind the scenes has focused on governance, partnerships, and ensuring the foundation is established with care and transparency. This update shares where the organisation currently stands and how momentum is being built responsibly for long-term impact.

In response to Hurricane Melissa, Jamaican-led organisations and individuals across the Netherlands and Belgium came together to coordinate collection hubs and mobilise support for Jamaica.

The Ackee Seed Foundation is preparing for a small, research-focused trip to Jamaica centred on listening, relationship-building, and understanding community needs on the ground. The visit will support thoughtful planning, strengthen partnerships, and help ensure that future initiatives respond to lived realities rather than assumptions.

In December, Ackee Seed Foundation partnered with Caribbean Creatives and Melkweg Cinema to host a special screening of The Harder They Come (1972), honouring reggae legend Jimmy Cliff. Hosted by Karla King, the evening created space for cultural reflection, remembrance, and community dialogue in support of hurricane relief efforts in Jamaica.

Art of Returning was a community-led art fundraiser held in Utrecht in response to Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. Organised by visual artist and Ackee Seed Foundation founder Karla King, the event brought together art, conversation, and collective care, raising €4,450 to support recovery efforts and long-term community initiatives.
